Project Know Your Neighbor: How God Is Calling You to the People Right Outside Your Door
There is a quiet revolution available to every believer, and it does not require a platform, a ministry title, or a theological degree. It begins with something as simple as learning the name of the person who lives next door.
We live in an age of unprecedented connection and yet staggering loneliness. People are turning to artificial intelligence for companionship and conversation. Neighborhoods that once hummed with front porch interaction have gone silent. We pull into our driveways, walk through our front doors, and lock the world out. And somewhere in the middle of all of that, followers of Jesus have quietly stopped being salt and light in the most immediate mission field they have: the eight or ten homes that surround their own.
Romans 1:16 declares that the gospel is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes. That power is not meant to be contained within church walls on a Sunday morning. It is meant to flow outward, carried by ordinary people into ordinary neighborhoods, workplaces, and communities. The question is not whether God wants to move in the lives of the people around you. The question is whether you are willing to be the one he moves through.
You Are Already a Preacher
One of the most liberating and challenging truths in Scripture is that sharing the gospel is not reserved for professionals. Romans 10:14 asks how people can believe in someone they have never heard about, and how they can hear without someone speaking to them. That someone is you.
Being an evangelist simply means being someone who shares the good news. And the good news is not just a theological argument. It is your story. It is the moment God gave you peace in the middle of chaos. It is the prayer that got answered. It is the season you walked through something devastating and came out the other side with hope still intact. Nobody can argue with your story. Nobody can debate what God has done in your own life.
Sharing your faith can be as simple as saying, "I've been praying through it," when a coworker asks how you are handling a hard situation. It can be a scripture verse posted on social media. It can be a sentence that cracks open a door: "My faith has really carried me through seasons like that." Small statements create space for deeper conversations, and deeper conversations create space for Jesus.
