Be Found Faithful: Evergreen Church's 2025 Vision
Celebrating 30 Years of God's Faithfulness—and Stepping Boldly into the Future
By Pastor Caleb Dick
A Legacy in Motion
In 1995, Evergreen Church was planted with a deep conviction: that the local church is the hope of the world, and that God would use this community to reach people with the love of Jesus. For three decades, we've seen that vision take root and flourish. Lives have been changed. Families restored. Generations impacted.
As we mark our 30th anniversary in 2025, we recognize this moment as more than a milestone. It’s a launching point. A time to honor the faithfulness of God—and to respond by choosing to be faithful in return.
Our word for the year is Faithful.
"Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments." —Deuteronomy 7:9
Faithfulness isn’t trendy. It doesn’t chase applause. It simply endures. It's the long obedience in the same direction that Eugene Peterson wrote about—and it's the kind of life we believe God is calling us to in this next chapter.
We believe that God is building Evergreen into a strong, prevailing church with increasing influence locally and globally. But this won’t happen overnight. And it won’t happen accidentally. It requires a lifetime pursuit—not a short-term goal.
So the question we’re asking in this 30th year is this:
What will it take for Evergreen Church to grow into all that God wants us to be 30 years from now?
We believe the answer lies in four callings of faithfulness: Home, Church, Region, and World.
1. Faithful in Our HOME
"But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." —Joshua 24:15
Before we build programs or plant churches, we start where life is lived most personally and powerfully: at home.
Faithfulness at home isn’t about perfection—it’s about presence. It's seen in early morning prayers over breakfast, in the quiet reading of Scripture after the kids go to bed, and in the way we choose forgiveness, patience, and joy in our everyday lives.
One young mom in our church began reading a Psalm aloud each day before school. She didn’t think her children were paying attention until one morning her son recited the passage from memory. "I just wanted to be like you," he said. In the small and unseen, a legacy was forming.
Faithfulness at Home looks like:
Daily Prayer & Scripture: Hearing from God before we hear from the world.
Sabbath Weekly: Learning to rest, trusting God to work.
Fasting Twice Monthly: Breaking routines to build dependence.
Feasting Monthly: Celebrating God’s goodness with others.
This isn’t just spiritual discipline—it's discipleship. And it's how generations are shaped.
"You must not despise the small things. The spirit of the world despises the small things." —Wendell Berry
2. Faithful in Our CHURCH
"Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together..." —Hebrews 10:23-25
The Church is not a building—it's a body. When we commit to one another in community, we reflect Jesus to the world.
A couple who had recently moved to Bothell began attending Evergreen and quietly observed for a few weeks. One Sunday, they were invited to lunch by a group they’d sat near—and that simple gesture sparked a meaningful connection. Today, they're hosting a small group and investing in others. “We felt so welcomed,” they said, “and now we get to help others feel the same.”
Faithfulness in the Church looks like:
Becoming the Church: Gathering together 3-4 Sundays a month to worship, connect, and grow.
Becoming a Giver: Bringing your tithes and offerings as a spiritual act of worship.
Becoming a Servant: Serving 1-2 times a month to help others experience Jesus.
God designed the Church to be a community of transformation. Faithfulness means not just attending, but belonging and contributing.
"If we do not love the Church, we do not love Jesus." —Eugene Peterson
3. Faithful in Our REGION
"Seek the peace and prosperity of the city... Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper." —Jeremiah 29:7
Our calling isn’t just to gather—it's to go. God has placed Evergreen in the Pacific Northwest for a reason.
At the Awakening Music Festival last year, a teenager invited her neighbor to join. That night, he heard the gospel clearly for the first time. Two months later, he was baptized. That simple invitation changed everything.
Faithfulness in the Region looks like:
Evangelism: Through pre-evangelism, personal invitations, and Alpha, we’re opening doors to the gospel.
Local Partnership: Supporting ministries like Reach, Care Net, Antioch Adoptions, Flourish, and Northwest University.
We believe a faithful church transforms its city. Through prayer, hospitality, and service, we will continue to be a Kingdom presence in our region.
"The city should be better because the church is in it." —Tim Keller
4. Faithful in Our WORLD
"I am not ashamed of the gospel... it is the power of God for salvation." —Romans 1:16
God’s heart has always been for the nations. At Evergreen, we believe in both local presence and global impact.
One of our global partners in Africa recently sent a report that over 1,000 people had gathered to hear the gospel in a village we helped support. Through prayer, giving, and training, we were part of reaching people who had never heard the name of Jesus.
Faithfulness in the World looks like:
Supporting Global Partners: From Israel to Africa to Alpha USA, we are investing in Kingdom work worldwide.
Participating in Missions: Through prayer, finances, and short-term teams.
Raising and Sending Leaders: Preparing the next generation to go where God sends.
"The Great Commission is not an option to be considered; it is a command to be obeyed." —Hudson Taylor
A Faithful Generation
This is more than a theme for a year. It’s the foundation for our future. God has been faithful to us. Let us be found faithful to Him.
"Well done, good and faithful servant... Enter into the joy of your master." —Matthew 25:21
"He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion..." —Philippians 1:6
In your home. In our church. In our city. Across the world.
Be Faithful.
Live Faithful.
Finish Faithful.
Let us become a Faithful Generation that lives and finishes well.
